Saturn
taken through the 82" reflector at McDonald Observatory January 5, 2003.
Hand held digital camera over eyepiece.
Total eclipse of December 4, 2002 in South Africa. I was under clear skies
until 2 hours before totality when
clouds rolled in.
But the next day driving through Kruger National Park I caught the "King"
and an elephant crossing the road. (Of course I was wearing my running shoes
when photographing the King).
Annular eclipse, Costa Rica, December 14, 2001. Our group
relocated 3 times after the eclipse started to find a hole in the clouds in
between rainstorms. During the eclipse the President of Costa Rica
drove up Dr. Elizabeth Odio, and we showed her the eclipse thru our telescopes.
Solar Eclipse
- Africa June 21, 2001
These photos were taken at the eclipse center line in Zambia near
the Angola border on the banks of the Zambezi river. Just under 4
minutes of totality was seen under cloud free, haze free skies. One of the
darkest eclipses I have ever seen, the Southern Cross was clearly visible
opposite the eclipsed Sun.
